Entertainment: Jigsaw puzzles at Jigzone

Jigzone does nice digital jigsaw puzzles. You can even have your own pictures "jig sawn". Here is one of mine. Click and drag on the pieces to move them. They will "snap into place" when you let go of them if the are close enough to the correct position. Pieces are in the correct orientation. puzzle4 Jigsaw Puzzle Castilleja sp. (C. integrifolia?) taken in Wasatch Mountains of Utah, July 2006 at the NARGS Annual Meeting. The gallery of my puzzles on Jigzone is here: My Puzzles Jigsaw Puzzle Gallery - JigZone.com

A solution for the depth of field problem with macrophotography

Image
I saw this mentioned on Taxacom last week. I definitely want to try this on some flower photographs! HeliconFocus is a program that creates one completely focused image from several partially focused images by combining the focused areas. The program is designed for macrophotography , microphotography and hyperfocal landscape photography to cope with the shallow depth-of-field problem. Helicon Focus also aligns images as objects often change their size and position from shot to shot. This function is especially important for macrophotography . It looks good. I haven't tried it yet but it is available free for a 30 day trail as shareware. They also make a picture editing program called Heliconfilter that looks interesting and useful. If anyone is already familiar with either program or tries it out please let me know how you like them. Also if you know of any competing software I would be interested in learning about that too.
